FAQ

Frequently asked questions about the glass courses

Do I need any previous experience?

No. Our glass courses are well suited for beginners. You do not need to have worked with glass or any other craft before. We go through each step carefully and you receive personal guidance throughout the course.

What will I learn during the course?

You will learn the basics of the Tiffany technique and how to work with coloured glass: how to plan a project, cut glass, grind edges, apply copper foil, solder the pieces together and do the final finishing. The goal is for you to feel confident with the technique and be able to create your own glass items.

What do you make during the course?

This varies depending on the course and how far you get, but many people make things like candle lanterns, window decorations, hearts, flowers, angels, small pictures or other decorative items. Each course leaves room for creativity and personal expression.

How long is a glass course?

The beginner's course is a full day, normally 10:00–16:30, giving you plenty of time to work at a relaxed pace. The intermediate course is two days. On special occasions we also offer other formats. Times are always stated for each course date.

How many participants are there on the courses?

We work in small groups, normally 4–5 people, to be able to give everyone personal guidance. This also creates a calm and inspiring environment where everyone can develop at their own pace. The number of available places is shown for each course date.

Are materials and tools included?

You borrow tools and an apron from us during the course. Materials, however, are not included in the course fee. Glass, copper foil, solder, patina and other consumables are added based on what you choose to create. Because this can vary a lot between different projects, we have chosen to bill materials separately. This is paid on site at the end of the course, and an estimate of the typical cost is usually stated in the course information.

Do I need to bring anything myself?

Normally you only need to bring a good mood and a desire to create. As we work with glass, you should wear old clothes you don't mind getting dirty. You can borrow an apron from us. Fully enclosed indoor shoes are a requirement, meaning shoes that cover your entire foot. If a course requires something special, such as your own sketches, it will be stated in the course information.

Can I take my finished artwork home?

Yes. What you create during the course is your own and of course you take it home with you when the course ends – provided the work is finished and ready for transport.
