About Anne-Lie Sävström

Anne-Lie Sävström is a glass artist with her studio, shop and course space at Hökvägen 6 in Bjärred, between Lund and Malmö. Under the name ASM Design, she creates sculptures, paintings and functional glass items – and since 2014, her work has received a warm response from audiences, juried exhibitions and art societies.

From flowers and wood to glass

Anne-Lie was born and raised just outside Landskrona. Her career began as a florist and continued as a fine cabinetmaker at a small carpentry workshop in Skåne – two crafts that are both reflected in her glass art: the sense of colour and form from flowers, and the precision from carpentry.

Curiosity has always driven her forward. She has both participated in and led study circles in weaving, bobbin lace, batik, watercolour, porcelain painting and glass, and has completed advanced courses in Greece, Thailand and Italy, among other places – most recently a one-week course in stained glass with Diego Tolomelli at IKO Studio in 2024.

The glass artist

Today, Anne-Lie is primarily a glass artist, working mainly with the Tiffany technique – where pieces of glass are edged with copper foil and soldered together with tin – and fusing, where glass is melted together in a kiln. She also works with glass painting, where the colour is fired into the glass and becomes part of it. The Tiffany technique is unusual in Sweden, and Anne-Lie is one of the few who still work with it today.

Exhibitions and collaborations

Anne-Lie loves exhibiting at cultural days and art trails ("konstrundor"), and in collaboration with galleries and art societies. She is a member of Svenska Konstnärsförbundet (Region Syd), Fria Konstnärers Gille and Redig Skånsk Slöjd. Her exhibitions include Galleri Oscar, Alfa Laval Konsthall, Romele Konsthall, Galleri Hultman in Åstorp and Galleri Direkt in Landskrona. See current exhibitions and events.
